Criminal defence and bail in Medchal and Hyderabad

Criminal work at SN Law Chambers is concerned with the liberty of the accused, the rights of a complainant, and the procedure the agency and the court must follow. Since 1 July 2024 the principal codes are the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 (BNS), the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023 (BNSS) and the Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, 2023 (BSA). Offences alleged before that date, and many pending trials, may still be governed by the IPC and CrPC. Advice depends on the FIR, the date of the alleged act, and the papers on record. Cheque-bounce complaints under Section 138 of the NI Act have a separate page.
Types of matters handled
Illustrative types of work taken on from the Medchal chambers. Clients are not named. A past matter is not a ranking, not a testimonial, and not a prediction of any other result.
01
Represented accused persons on anticipatory and regular bail before courts in Cyberabad, Rachakonda and Medchal–Malkajgiri.
02
Instructed complainants and accused on FIR, police-notice and trial papers under the BNSS.
Legal issues we handle
- Reading an FIR, a complaint, or a police notice and identifying the offences actually invoked
- Anticipatory bail under Section 482 of the BNSS and regular bail after arrest
- Representation during investigation — production, interrogation and remand — through lawful channels
- Quashing of criminal proceedings in the High Court where the law permits
- Trial defence before magistrates and sessions courts
- Appeals, revisions and applications arising from criminal orders
When you may need legal assistance
- You have received a police notice, or learned that an FIR has been registered at a station in Medchal, Cyberabad, Rachakonda or Hyderabad
- You apprehend arrest and need the anticipatory-bail question examined on the actual FIR
- You are a complainant who wants a complaint read before it is filed
- Your matter is before a magistrate or sessions court in Medchal–Malkajgiri or Hyderabad
- A remand, a warrant, or a cancellation of bail is on the papers
How we approach the matter
The FIR header, the date of the alleged act, and the code cited on the charge-sheet decide the advice. Templates from the CrPC era are not copied onto a BNSS case without being read. Informal ‘settlements’ that amount to compounding a non-compoundable offence, or to obstructing investigation, are not offered. Adv. Sainath Panjagari’s LL.M is in Crimes & Torts; bail and trial work in this chambers is still fact-specific. No advocate can guarantee bail, quashing or acquittal.
What to expect
A criminal matter usually moves from information or complaint, to investigation if a cognizable offence is alleged, to a decision on arrest or appearance, to bail, to a police report, and then to trial. At each stage the court looks at different papers. Strategy that is appropriate at the bail stage is not always appropriate at trial. Do not abscond, destroy evidence, or contact the complainant to ‘settle’ a non-compoundable offence. Preserve phones, CCTV and documents.
Forums that commonly arise
- Magistrates and Sessions Court at the Medchal–Malkajgiri District Court complex
- Metropolitan Magistrates and Sessions Courts in Hyderabad, Cyberabad and Rachakonda, as the police station requires
- High Court for the State of Telangana for quashing, bail and revisions that are maintainable
Papers to bring
- FIR, complaint, Section 35 BNSS notice (or the corresponding earlier notice), and remand papers
- Medical, financial or electronic records the allegation depends on
- Identity and residence proof for bail
- Any prior criminal record, including pending cases — concealment damages credibility
Why the Medchal chambers can matter
The commissionerate is on the FIR header. Medchal–Malkajgiri matters often fall under Cyberabad, but the place of occurrence decides the station and the court. Do not assume a Hyderabad City station can take a Cyberabad FIR. The chambers at Medchal Check Post is a place to take instructions and appear in the local courts; High Court work is a separate listing.
Frequently asked questions
Can I get anticipatory bail in a non-bailable offence?
Anticipatory bail under Section 482 BNSS is not automatic. The court examines the accusation, the applicant’s role, flight risk, witness interference and the need for custodial interrogation.
Which police station covers Medchal?
The FIR header and the place of occurrence decide the station. Many Medchal–Malkajgiri stations sit under Cyberabad, but that is not a substitute for reading the paper.
Has the IPC been repealed for all purposes?
The BNS, BNSS and BSA came into force on 1 July 2024. Offences alleged before that date, and many pending matters, continue under the IPC and CrPC. Check the charging papers and the date of the alleged act.
Will the chambers contact the investigating officer?
Where it is proper, counsel may communicate through lawful channels. Informal settlements that obstruct investigation are not offered.
Is a family quarrel always a criminal case?
No. Some disputes belong in Family Court. Some disclose a cognizable offence. The facts and the statute decide, not the anger of the moment.
Can you guarantee that I will not be arrested?
No. That statement is not made by this chambers.
Consultation
If you have a notice or an FIR, bring it. Do not wait for a convenient date if arrest is a real risk. Consultations are by appointment. An enquiry is not a retainer.
